the plenum is a chamber between the engine bay and the inner bulkhead. Its a bit like a catch tank.
anyway your ECU for the engine is in there and the drain at the bottom of the chamber can become blocked and the tank as it were fills up with water... your ecu gets wet and all stop... if you lift the bonnet, open the scuttle grill on the drivers side ( where the brake fluid reservoir is) and shine a torch over the top of the brake master and down into the depths of the plenum (more towards the passenger side) if you can see water or tide marks and leaf litter then your ecu may have gone for a swim..... if so then there are people on here who can help you out... if you need to ask what the plenum is then you will have never cleaned the drain and this will be a real likely cause....

When did you last check your fuel filter? if its gunged up it could be down to glooup in the bottom of the tank preventing fuel getting thru.
