Handbrake shoes a heads up
If you get the from ECP, make sure you take the old shoes with you to match up,ECP will say there is only one set listed, but there are two, one set being about 2mm longer ,and having a longer strip of friction material. If you get this type, you will not get the disc back on! I have just had this hassle, on e side done, now for the other, oh! It blinkin raining, TYPICAL!w

Well finally got it done, only took almost 24 hours. Due to incorrect shoes, I had to make a 2nd trip to Europarts. Then I had to go to a funeral, then collect the wife from work, in the van. So by the time I got round to finishing it was 5 o clock. lol

Handbrake shoes a heads up
Unfortunately this has become a common factor when purchasing parts for our cars, had the handbrake shoes experience with Borg and Beck, unsurprised by this as I understand they are now French owned, also things like the generic drop links of different lengths of thread on upper ends etc. The aftermarket parts business was plagued by various part number crossovers and inaccurate data in terms of dimensions and materials quality.
We will always try to keep our cars going despite being sold the parts that won't fit or not suitable. I am sure the shops run by members have checked things properly rather than relying on generic theory. |

I have to take the wrong shoes back, so can't take a photo of the two side by side. The friction material was about 1-2cm longer, other than this they look identical

The shoes are one thing but I've had success using marina shoe steady springs for retaining the shoes.
This means taking the backplate off to enter them from the back though Brian |

Which is where my problem lies, seized backplate to hub bolts, and one ones side, the inner bearing race is stuck on the stub axle, I suspect the outer handbrake cable will be seized in it's housing on the back plate too, hence using the bolts to secure the shoes.
