3mm and surprisingly thin for shoes. They just do not normally wear at all, so usually no reason to fit new unless they have suffered contamination or damage.

what comes to mind is......
CUSTOMER; my handbrakes not holding MECHANIC; That'll be your shoes, they need doing...that'll be £££ fit shoes, adjust, hey presto it works....until the compensator stretches a bit more. The fact you got them back and seemingly in one piece really suggests they didn't need doing. pic of a brand new one attached.... Last edited by okenora; 19th September 2014 at 11:52.. |

Has he done the compensator mod yet and adjusted at both rear hubs? Instant permanent fix and cheaper than new shoes.

Without seeing the friction surface I would say those shoes are good as new.

lining thickness looks fine on those, looking even more like an adjustment and/or compensator fault. Just changed mine today and this is what they looked like...no mention of any replacement in the history so presuming they have been in there for 14 years....they easily passed MOT last year with handbrake on 3 clicks max

I will be fitting a compensator in for him soon, but as they are oap's they're not rolling in it and their main problem at the moment is the intermittent stalling.
Another thread already started on that one. So shoes adjusted up and both wheels holding, mod to do a little later for them. |
