Default CONTEMPORARY SE CDT.. Break or not to break?

04 Reg Contemporary SE CDT Saloon

Ok I brought this on a whim.

There are a couple of bits I would want from it.
It's a cat D write off (November 2011 and has been repaired).. it is Mot'd and taxed till next year.
Its rough round the edges ( message centre missing several lines, split in the drivers bolster, central locking not unlocking drivers door but does lock it! and various other bits)and done 130,000 miles but the question is, if I clean it up and sort it out what's it worth or am I better breaking it?

Thoughts please gentlemen.

Crikey, looks too good to break

I recently bought a 04 Contemp SE 1.8T for £800, but I watched one go on Ebay the other day for £1950. The prices seem to fluctuate quite a bit, and the diesel will be worth more anyway I guess.

No it's called black with dirt on it

I was thinking of the drivers door as mine has a dent in it... not a big one but I notice it every time I go to my car.

IMO criminal to break, you will get more for it as a car. Loads of diesel engines on the market looking for buyers (they don't go wrong), so you either accept a very low price to shift it or have it hanging around. Same with other diesel components and that is where most of the valuable parts are. Think of the time you will spend stripping it. It will take you months to dispose of the parts, do you have storage, a car in pieces takes up a lot of room. If you don't have storage you will end up dumping skip loads of parts.

Sort these minor issues out and sell it on and use the capital realise for other purposes.

Cat D don't show up on V5's so no stain on car's paperwork.

I would try and save it if possible, despite it's imperfections it's a nice looking car and I would also suggest it's worth more as a whole. 130k on a diesel engine is nothing really.
