Yea I know mate. I have all the originals on my hard drive so no drama for me but I have not got the time or inclination to build this back up

I will still use this thread for the suspension build when I do it though (NOT USING PB

A quick update on the car. I am using her daily for commute and I wish I could say fault free but in true R75\ZT style alas I cannot

She drives brilliantly and is a joy to sit in but to date:-
Passenger side headlight has stopped adjusting and now sits high

ABS warning back up which is front passenger

Radio controls have stopped working on the steering wheel

Back seat got jammed

All normal defects for this marque

. I am slowly putting together the bits for the suspension rebuild

So decided to rebuild the thread tonight. Not sure how long it will last but the photos are back

Anyway as reported a couple of issues have arisen but 2 are fixed. the stuck rear seat was fixed and I had a spare headlight which needed some TLC before I could swap it out for the defective one which was really high. It definitely is not self aligning when turning

on.

So the spare headlight was taken off the shelf

So the light was baked at 110 degrees C for 10 minutes in the wifes oven then split. Remember to use gloves

Then the lens went through a series of wet and dry attacks

400 grit

800 grit

1200 grit

2000 grit

Then machine polished

Cleaned ready to fit

I use sikaflex 221 to re seal headlights. We use it in the Marine industry and although quite expensive it is worth the additional cost. Better than Silicon sealant

Finally fitted to the car and now at the right height

Headlamps now back to normal. Not sure why the other one failed. Will to adjust

I will have to strip down and find out why

Just spent the evening reading this entire thread which was thoroughly enjoyable. The dedication and attention to details is truly inspiring. If I could get my car to be even half as good as this I would be more than happy. All that work has achieved a fabulous result.

I did it to help others. I use her daily for work and she is not finished as I have both suspension units to overhaul.

Was hoping to do that this winter but one of my other cars is getting tlc at the moment.

Well its been a year on the road used daily through all weathers. Just taken her pff the road to service and get ready for MOT.

Issues in 12 months of commuting
1. Passenger headlight went minky on adjustment-solved
2. Wind screen washer pump blocked twice- bottle now off car to be deep cleaned internally
3 ABS fault came up on passenger front. Investigating at tge moment.
4. Steering wheel stereo control not working.

So all the above being sorted and a service then back for MOT. Nit started the suspension rebuilds yet. Photos to follow

So the car has has its annual service and repairs that were needed plus I have now added a Seat splitter.

Whilst conducting the service I emptied the oil catch can and was surprised what the can had collected. Good news in a way as this is not passing through the air inlet system.

After the service the next thing was to fix the issues I had:-

1. Firstly the windscreen washer pump had blocked a couple of times over the year so I removed the washer bottle, cleaned out the filter (again

) and then to save this happening again I deep cleaned the water tank. It took some cleaning to get rid of all the black bits but I think i have done it

Next up I fitted a Seat Splitter to the front bumper. I did it whilst the bumper was off the car.

First I prepped the splitter by cutting the centre clips to length. I notice some have left these long after cutting the tabs off but I cut to a flush measurement to the splitter so the centre air intake sat parallel with the bumper if that makes sense

I also cut all the tab lips off where they are supposed to clip into the seat bumper. I left the tabs so I could screw through them

I found it easier to work from the centre out. So first measured centre of the bumper and marked it off then measure centre of the splitter and marked it off and offered them both up clamping in place

once set into position (it took a little adjustment to sit right on the bumper I started to screw from the centre out. I did use a little heat from a heat gun to ease the plastic bending.

I used stainless flanged self tappers in each tap and through the centre uprights trimmed to fit.

The finished article looks OEM and hides the stainless bolts under the bumper. I would not have thought of doing this if it was not for this wonderful forum

Next up was the ABS issue.

This peed me off a bit as I had bought the car with an ABS issue and sorted that one (rear disc back plates corrosion

) and then in the Winter the ABS warning came up again

I hadn't had time to diagnose and repair due to upgrading the Turbos and air system on my Supra and work load although I did stick the TOAF program on it which told me what I needed to know.

I knew I had a good quality new sensor spare (Pagid) so thought I would change it out now as the car was off the road.

For those that have done this you will know where Im going (or maybe not

).

So first I removed the M6 bolt holding the flange in place and soaked the sensor with penetrating oil (well you never know).

Whilst waiting I unclipped the cable route, pulled the grommet and carefully pulled the blue connector through the hole

Next up I got my drill ready and self tapper but before I started I got a pair of mole grips onto the flange and twisted. Well for the first time in my ownership of 4 of these cars the ABS sensor moved and came out

This was obviously not an original fit and the last mechanic had used an anti seize grease

Oh I wish more mechanics would use anti seize grease where torques are not essential

So the issue must have been a cheap fleabay item had been fitted previously

Nope it was an OEM (BMW in this case) part

So fitted the new sensor into the hub with a new stainless bolt and ran the cabling and re connected. I did not clip anything at this point as I wanted to test the new unit.

Next up onto TOAF to reset all the fault codes and then turn the ignition on. ABS check lamp came on and then went off as designed. I started the car and no faults re appeared.

So everything was clipped back into place (I made sure the blue connector was put back in its clip on the wheel arch shroud)

The wheel was refitted and the car test driven- all good

Next the engine bay was given the once over. It has faired fairly well considering the car was used for commuting every day in all weathers for the last 12 months.

One thing I noticed on the test drive was the AC was not working. The 3 speed fan was overhauled with new brushes last year and was working when I took her off the road so I suspect I have knocked something

Still another few hrs in the man cave wont hurt.

Fitted another set of radio controls (sorry not photos

) and the radio volume now works from the steering wheel

.

The car is ready for MOT but I want to see why the fan has stopped working in slow speed before I put her through.
