Thumbs up KV6 belt change £350!

Took my ZT to my dads mechanic today for a gearbox and engine oil change (needed doing and far too much snow for me to get on my back!). He does the mot's on my Holden and has worked on my dads cars for several years and is a superb mechanic. He has recently set up his own garage and only charges £25 per hour! I got talking about the ZT today and said about it being a bit of a pain doing the belts on the KV6. He explained that he has done quite a few (popular cars the ZT and 75's around the Fylde) and didn't consider it too bad a job. He said that to do the 3 belts and oil and filter change he would charge £350 -£360 including parts which I thought was a very good price, especially considering what a nice guy he is and how good a mechanic. Anyway his details are:

Paul Bickington
Wyre Valley Motors
Hillside park lane
Preesall
Poulton-Le-Fylde
FY6 0DZ
07968 850469

Please note, I am not connected in any way, this is just a recommendation for a good, fair priced garage.

That's what I thought! I thought I should put it on here as I've never seen it done for less than £500. Might be worth it for some to travel but I've no idea how far away you are?

Almost sounds too good to be true !

You'll need the 3 belts, tensioner, idler, water pump & at least 2 camshaft sprocket bolts for the rear (1 sprocket on each bank has to come off) as they're stretch bolts & shouldn't be re-used

If the proper locking/setting tools are used, you'll need more camshaft sprocket bolts & the 2 exhaust camshaft end caps/seals.

Not forgetting the OAT antifreeze & oil/filter change.

I can recommend a few places that are local (to us both ) that I'd trust to do the belts, if you want to PM me for details.

This is to change the 3 belts and they come in a kit, presumably this will include the idler and bolts as otherwise I don't think it would be described as a kit? That price includes oil and filter but not water pump and antifreeze. That price is what he has charged for several other KV6 belt changes so not too good to be true! He is also happy to fit the belts if you supplied your own parts and said it takes him between 6 and 7 hours charged at £25 per hour so i think £150 - £175 labour is cheap.

Shame you're so far away, I think I'm taking the Holden to the rolling road day in Manchester on the 9th Feb! I'll have a quick go at putting some on here now.
