Default Windscreens

Im a water man . A good pan full of lukewarm and it clears the windscreen
a lot faster then any can of deicer .
Like a few of the other members Ive been using this method for as long
as Ive been driving and never damaged the glass.
However i would not pour HOT water over the windows.
Using cold to lukewarm will do fine..if your screen cracked using this
i would have to assume the screen was damaged before you cleaned it

A bus co I worked for a couple of years ago were to tight to buy de-icer and we were told to scrape the frost off the screen. We used hot water from the tap and cracked two screens before the management stopped us. Next day there were tins of de-icer for us to use.

I use any de-icer as they all seem the same to me

I use screenwash concentrate in a spray bottle.

Works for me.

I, like Podge, also use a plastic scraper, This leaves the screen nice and clean and above all dry. The plastic lasts for many years and only takes a minute or two.

To me all the other methods strike me as being lazy and costly - I am a skinflint really!

I have always used de-icer as I like to give the wiper blades a good squirt so they are not frozen to the screen before using them. I find one can lasts me all winter down here in the deep south

We try not to do frost down here if we can help it

My method involves no chemicals or hard work.

Take 2 car keys.
Open drivers door with key 1,
Start engine.
Press windscreen demist button,
Close car,
Lock door with key 2.

Go back inside and watch the car defrost itself while drinking a nice cup of coffee and eating a slice of toast.

Takes about 5 mins and saves any hassle.

That is presuming Bathrobe locking has been enabled on the car.

I've posted my method several times on here:

Put a 2kw fan heater in the cabin, extension lead through the front door letterbox. Not only are all the windows clear, but the cabin is also warm. And I'm not running the (diesel) engine to annoy my neighbours........
