Well said Jamie, if they were poorly built, unreliable cars then why are there so many on here who have had, or own more than one.

Well what can I say I had a problem which I would probaly never found out what it was,but thanks to this club I got it sorted and was able to cure the fault/problem myself with the help of various members. So yes people will knock things when they go wrong and are slow to praise when they go right. long live the 75/ZT

Could it be that the sort of people who get enthusiastic about any car are the sort of people who don't mind a few problems or even relish a challenge? After all, to a true car enthusiast, a car that is perfect in every respect and 100% reliable could soon become 'boring'.

Nothing wrong with seeing our cars through rose tinted spectacles TF!
OK so I make my living out of selling/servicing them. I could have chosen to specialise in Saabs say but that would be boring & less patriotic! We've always owned cars that our friends "perceive to be rubbish" (take Dolomites & Stags for instance, we owned those for many years.) But at least we can say we never own or drive Bland, modern, run of the mill fleet cars.

But there possibly is if that gives a false impression to the casual viewer of these forums of the reality of 75/ZT ownership. |

I must admit tho, I've been casting loving eyes over black XJRs last few days but I wonder if I could talk Paul into letting me change Rovergroup to www.rovergroupwithasmatteringofjaguar.org.uk! |

My advice, (for what it's worth), to anyone considering one of these cars is, have a thorough read on this forum first and list all the known problem areas.
Then buy the cheapest, GOOD condition car you can find. Service history isn't even worth the paper it's written on, especially if it was a company car wheeled into a dealership for it's annual stamp and out. Spend the money you saved on the purchase renewing bits that are KNOWN to give problems, and enjoy your motoring. In the case of the diesels, the engines (not the ancilleries) are bombproof, and a high mileage motorway cruiser is probably the best buy of all (could be why I bought one!). Big plus, they're nearly BRITISH. (now considered by certain ((non-English)) members of the UK to be a politically incorrect term). Mick Last edited by FROGGY; 5th December 2008 at 20:25..
