Traditionally, the UK is not a fan of nationalistic politics and jingoism doesn't have a big following.
When the 'you're not Scottish if you vote no' vibe permeated through social media I am sure many swing voters were alarmed. That is not to imply that jingoism was a core of the yes campaign, it is merely to state that I feel UK voters maintain an aversion to it. Moving forward, I think a new constitutional arrangement is needed for the whole union and not just a part of it. The yes vote may have lost but by no means should they be ignored lest we open the door to neverendums and 'the troubles'. |

As were are "The United Kingdom"
Why not have a system where everyone has the same laws.same rules, same taxation, same benefits and welfare system,no matter which part of the United Kingdom you live in,sounds easy, if everything was equal ,there would be nothing to moan about. Sorry that only applies to Utopia

The way I look at it is that about 1.2% of the electorate decided the outcome...
Personally, I think it's a sad day for Scotland. For all they say and moan about the government in the end they STILL basically believed, (fooled) and voted for them! There are going to be a lot of angry people in Scotland today!

2/3s of the population didn't vote 'yes' The majority got what it wanted? (Well voted for, which is highly debatable of course) Are you saying that 55% of Scots are fools (or have been fooled?) If so I don't think they will realise it as quickly as today! |

It's called democracy. You don't always get what you want but you respect the decision made by the majority.
As to the promises made. Time will tell. If Westminster have lied and do not deliver then I think the whole issue will rise again. I hope not. We need to build but the ball is in Westminsters hands |

Interesting breakdown of the stats - the heartland of the "Yes" campaigns at best pooled a 55% vote in favour - 4 regions in total voted for Independence. 28 regions voted "No" with Shetland & Orkney and The Borders voting 67% in favour of staying in the UK. Fairly emphatic IMO. At least it wasn't marginal for either side as that would have caused some major issues. I think we need to bury all these predictions of "trouble ahead" and I'm sure we'll all pull through this and the UK will be a stronger and better represented country as a result.

No great surprise % overall (bookies paying out were the big clue). Surprised how few areas overall voted YES 4 out of 32.

Well,, That means another Liebour socialist government for England at the next general election . The SNP vote will all go their way.
Nowhere near enough time to sort out an English parliament before the next election, if it ever happens at all which I seriously doubt! Start the sweepstake now! im going for the UK bankrupt again by 2019. |
