Unhappy Crank Sensor Nightmare !

I Need to replace my crank sensor, simple enough i thought, but it turns out they changed the wiring after 2001 and im told i need a modified loom to fit a new sensor to my wiring as the old sensor was hard wired and not a plug on like the new ones, ive tried everywhere either for the modified loom or a second hand sensor the same as mine, IM OFF THE ROAD and come to a dead end (no ones got either) any ideas im desperate now ?.
( ps my local rover dealer say they've been waiting about 7 months for these modified looms and cant say when there due in).
My local garage were going to try and wire a new one to my old wiring but when they stripped the wires back the new sensor wiring is blue black and white, the wiring on my sensor is green yellow white, they didnt want to risk wiring it up wrong and damaging the ECU.

Doesn't the sensor with its hard wiring have a connector on the far end? You should be able to change the sensor without cutting any wires. I seem to remember the current system just needs a small wiring piece to connect the existing connector to the new sensor. I think eBay's a good place to look and in fact here's one on offer at the moment.

There's also the extra lead available from the same place.
