Default My poor puppy

On Thursday, we took our Shih tzu puppy to the vets for her big op - to remove her hernia on her belly and to get her spayed.
She came back the same day in the evening and it breaks my heart to see her like she is. She is so ill and is in so much pain. She's only a baby and when she cries, it makes me welly up.

I think she keeps getting sharp stinging pains as when she does she cries and gets up very quickly and runs before settling again. Two days on, no real improvement. She's also got one of those cones over her head which is really irritating her but we can't move it for a few days. Tomorrow is her check up so hopefully all is good. She has painkillers but it doesn't seem to be doing much. It hurts watching her like this. I will go to the vets tomorrow for her and see if they can give her something more. On top of that, she is barely eating or drinking now. Sometimes, she will eat some snacks out of my hand so I keep doing that so she has some energy.

I feel your pain Ravinder,

If only they could talk, hopefully the vet can ease her pain tomorrow.

Never nice seeing our little furry family members suffer.
I'm sure it's just post op tissue scarring and stitches that are causing the problem and it will get better soon.

The vet will be able to reassure you and check everything is healing nicely, hopefully he/she will prescribe something to make the discomfort less for the little mite

Yeah, I hope she's healing ok, too. I'll know more tomorrow. Just wish she wasn't in so much pain. She's such a bubbly little thing. Always running around after everyone demanding and now she's motionless.

Awful to see them in pain when there's nothing you can really do. Just keep comforting her, she'll like that.
I hope the vet can reassure you that all is well with her. It'll take time for her to heal fully. Keep giving her the snacks, like you say, it'll keep her energy up.

Beans, our Border Terrorist, sends best wishes too

It makes you feel so useless when they are in pain and they can't tell you where or what it is. Hope she gets relief very soon

Yeah, she is so adorable. Whenever I come into the room she comes running and grabs onto my shoes or slippers. As I walk, she's dragging along with me and biting my laces. None of that lately.
