Hull and Skegness theatres
Anyone been to The Embassy theatre in Skegness or The Hull City Hall theatre? What are thy like?
We used to go to the Mayflower in Southampton but it is now 200 miles away so looking for a decent theatre with good shows. thanks macafee2 |

The websites of both appear to have been done by someone who likes to crayon rather than to focus on information and detail. The itinerary for the year to enable someone to pick and to plan for attending a show is not immediately obvious at either venue and, frankly, life I think is too short to go looking for it. Lincoln's own New Theatre Royal looks nice to me but I do prefer tradition and history to modern, eyesore and soulless.
However for me it would be the show that I would focus on rather than the venue. A good show will pick the right venue which is why you will not see a touring West-End production at some theatres. That's not to say that some theatres are not good, they might just not have the facility to host some productions. Superstar is coming to the Sunderland Empire Theatre later this year, it is a touring West-End production which I might well go to see. A West-End show in my experience is a cut above, they are bigger and slicker than the rest and noticeably so. Go see one if you get the chance. |
