Strange, there shouldn't be a difference, because the sat nav has nothing to do with the Symphony unless the fact that the buttons are positioned within the front of the radio (no electrical connection). Maybe it's just the year of manufacturing or the software version.

You could emigrate to a warmer country, with more powerful radio stations. Maybe your favorite station isn't that strong? Early 75s have an aerial diversity which sadly has become a victim of Project Drive. That could make a difference between two cars at the same location.
