Default RAVE Help

Hi all,

I'm in the process of retro fitting heated washer jets (and planning other things as well).

Having already discovered at a nano that the wiring for front fogs to the multi pin connector was missing from the under bonnet fuse box I wanted to track the actual cables before taking off the drivers wheel/liner etc. only to find no plug there. In any case I need to add a connector to the heated washer wires as they were simply cut off, not unplugged. It might be simpler to splice into a wire from the under bonnet box. Suggestions?

Having spent quite a while following through wiring diagrams on my RAVE copy I've now discovered my passenger fuses are not what RAVE is telling me.

RAVE says heated washers and mirrors (I do have them and they work) are from Fuse 18; 5A; LGK (light green and pink) wire from Connector 580, pin 19.

But.......

My fuse box (and original handbook) is telling me that Fuse 18 is 5A for the Airbag SRS.

The heated mirrors and washer jets are on the 5A fuse at Fuse 35 (and I know the heated mirrors work)..

I'm wondering if my RAVE disk for the "new" passenger fusebox?.

She's a 2001 Club saloon so there's a fair few nice additions I'm planning but without the correct wiring diagrams it shall be a bit of a nightmare.

All help gratefully received.

Thanks in advance.

Andy.

Photos of what's in the car.

The "addition" at top left are for the Aux socket added to the cubby and feeds for the dash cams and sat nav all of which work fine thanks to the help on here. .

Are you sure the plug is not buried in the drivers mudguard? Usually behind all the sound deadening material.

Haven't hunted around yet.

Partly because she has mud flaps and they've defied all attempts to remove the plastic "locking" clips so far - any hints for their removal gratefully received.

Maybe if the weather is decent this afternoon....

Cheers.

You should be able to get a screwdriver into the rolled over top of the u-shaped metal clip which passes through the plastic part to lock it in place. Otherwise try to introduce a leg of some long nose pliers in the opening in the roll and tug and lever away. Once it starts you may be able to get a beefier set of pliers/mole wrench on it to tug harder. It will come out eventually. Brute force and ignorance!

Cheers Steve,

I'll see you on Saturday and maybe we can come up with some sort of solution.

My RAVE says I'm looking for a light green and pink wire - I can't see one on the back of my fuse box and neither can I see one on yours.

My biggest worry is that my RAVE disc doesn't relate to the fuses and wire colours I've actually got so I'll be in deep trouble when I come to fit some other goodies like rain sensing wipers and auto dipping mirror.

Andy

Yes, there are different versions of RAVE for different years (at least three of them), and you do not have correct copy for your car. In your car Heated washers have 5 amps fuse on position 35 and LighGreen/Red wire on block connector C0586 pin 4.

Thanks.

Much appreciated.

OK, so the question now is......where can I get a copy of RAVE for a 2001 diesel saloon?

Cheers.

Andy.

You might want to check if this new RAVE DVD from XPart contains what you need for your MY: https://www.rimmerbros.co.uk/Item--i-ZAA000400

Also on this picture connector C0586 is white one in first row:

Pin 4 would be second from the left hand side in the first row of the connector. As I can see you do not have wire attached to this pin.

The plot thickens....

I've got fully functional heated mirrors.

The handbook says these are on Fuse 35 along with the heated washer jets.

BUT

There doesn't seem to be a wire in pin 4 to feed them.

Erm......

Looks like pulling it all off again and checking what's actually connected where.

Isn't this going to be fun.

Cheers,

Andy.
