London bound today. Seems strange saying that rather than homeward bound. Taking the Bear, you need to see what the ladies have bought, you would think there are no clothes or food shops in London.
You got a trailer then.

Are you going to scallop it now?

Morning all, it's chucking it down here as it's been for most of the night. It's proper wet bank holiday weather

Had a lie in this morning for a change and I'd have still been away with the fairies if it wasn't for some tele-marketing person ringing I politely told him to go away.

Egg on toast for brekkie which went down very nice.

Nah! I'm gonna play it lol

I've never seen a scalloped fretboard in the flesh yet Steve, they look very strange.

This Strat neck is from China (Shenzhen) and I must say it's very nice quality indeed, no sharp edges at all on the fret ends and saying it only cost £23 delivered to my door I'm pleased with it.

I've not test fitted it yet or measured the neck so I'm hoping alls well there too, I'll be able to use that digital caliper I got the other day for £3.20

The rosewood neck it's replacing was a very used neck off ebay, The frets were rutted and I wanted to try my skills at fret dressing/levelling/crowning on it as it was only £10 and if I made a mess of it it was no big deal.

I had to take the frets very low down to get rid of the ruts, it was all trial & error but it played good with no buzzes or fretting out anywhere on the neck but they were too low for my liking.

Most commercially scalloped necks are very tame, even Fender's Blackmore Strat. He had a very aggressive scallop, too aggressive for commercial production. My Strat is now wearing a period correct large headstock '70s neck, it had a more modern one with the smaller headstock. Haven't scalloped it yet.

Very nice Steve, I do like those big headstocks.

Like guitar porn . . . . here's my other "baby". An old Columbus (Japanese) Gibson ES335 copy. Worked on one, liked the feel of it so much I got one. Took a while, ended up going down to Braintree in Essex to get it! Only this is its a pain to work on, access to the electrics is through the "f" hole, its like trying to paint the hallway by sticking the brush through the letterbox!

Also have an olympic white Strat, it gets used as a testbed for mods and a bass, can't even remember what make it is, nothing special. The bass was just a lump of black so replaced the knobs with chrome metal ones and made the polished aluminium plate around the controls.

Evening all, last night in Filey, so having a meal in the on site restaurant. Home tomorrow worse luck. Went to beach again thos afternoon, had been there about half hour and the heavens opened, we got thoroughly soaked walking back to the van.

Just as well you're heading back tomorrow Rich. Going by Sunday's forecast you'd be liable to get washed out to sea.
