Default PCV problems - diesel fuel leak

I've started a new thread for this, rather than try to bump two separate ones which I'd posted to.

Replaced the PCV filter with the complete BMW non-filter part, but in the process broke one of the fuel return hose plastic connectors, causing fuel to be literally spewing out all around the pcv area.

I found that a peugeot one fit, so I used this, and that's not leaking.

BUT I think I'm still getting fuel leaking from around this area, coming either from an injector, but they all seem to be dry, or the pcv unit itself.

I've gone back to the old plastic gaskets, as they seemed more pliable than the new ones, and seemed to fit better.

The main problem is that diesel fuel doesn't seem to evaporate, and this area is so fiddly, full of crooks and nannies, so I can't be 100% sure that I've dried every drop of fuel up, and that the "new" bits of fuel haven't just found their own level as it were, being there all the time.

I propose to use the car on short journeys this week, regularly drying it, and hoping that it does go, but does anyone have any better advice? The next service is in about 3k miles so I might just hand it over to the independent guy I use!!

Anyone offer advice, please?

Thanks in advance

Malcolm

PS My son-in-law has a "spare" car, an R reg Alfa 155 2 ltr - chipped - which I have been also using - what a difference in acceleration particularly, it goes like messy stuff off a shovel, but it can't hold a candle to the 75 in the comfort and sense of "well-being" stakes.

Sounds to me like you just have some left over fuel lying around from your leakage, the pcv wont leak fuel as it has none in it but check the thin braided hoses between those things you broke as they can split and seep away unnoticed until there is a bit more flow & then leak fairly heavily.

Thanks, Col, that's what I'm hoping, I suppose I just wanted someone to agree that it's possible to be that.............

By the way, a real "DOH!" mark for me then, I didn't realise the pcv wouldn't leak fuel, but when you think about it, as the problem with it is that it gets crudded up, it can't have clean fuel in it. What a plonker.
