Worth checking, and whilst the front end is off have a good look around and see if everything else is OK.

JDC seems to have a standard check-list for this, which I seem to have mislaid

how easy is it to take the egr value and clearn it???/
Unlikely that the EGR would go from ok to clogged within such a short time span, worth checking however

Sounds like the usual maf problem to me. Try disconnecting it.

I agree with Ron . I attended a cdti on a breakdown with this very problem. He had just left the motorway and stopped at the top of the sliproad. When he pulled away , the car was so flat it was dangerous. I disconnected the maf multiplug and it took off like a terrier! so it's dead easy to check.

Unplug the maf sensor and see how it goes. I'll put money on it being a faulty maf.

If its a lot better you need one of my mafam MF75p and Pierburgh maf
(£125.75) or a Synergy 2 + maf (£252.75). The Synergy 2 + maf will boost the performance significantly and make a great car even better.

Then check the connections to the fuel rail pressure sensor - possibly remove and clean it. The Freelander TD4 (same engine) suffers from corroded connections which causes poor performance, bad starting, hesitation due to corrosion of the wiring from ecu to pressure sensor. the fix is a new harness from sensor to secu and a new sensor.

I don't know whether the 75 suffers also, but its possible.

Could also be the HP regulator on the back of the HP pump.

Have you checked the electric fuel pumps - in-tank and underbonnet.
