Default Strange goings on with brakes

My dad's cdt seems to have some random brake goings on. He told me this morning that they seem to be going on by themselves. Mot sure how this can happen though.
He was driving along in cruise control when it seemed to turn off and brake!
Also, the abs light is coming on sometimes. I'm going to strip, lube and bleed them at the weekend, but anyone got any clues?

Stripped brakes but seem fine. No sign of them coming on whilst driving. But... Abs light still on showing abs fault on message centre and also cc doesn't want to come on.
Do sensor plugs need to be moved if new brake pipes fitted? Can abs codes be read via any obd reader?
