Default loosing coolant...but no mayo on oil filler cap

oh dear..... the old girl is loosing water, saw a puddle under the engine area on my drive, needed to put about a pint in to top up to correct level

there is no mayo on the oil filler cap or inside the head, and looking below the engine there are drips from around the oil drain bolt area,

...any advise or a link to a previous thread

fingers crossed it's an easy one for my beautiful old girl
thanks in advance

best time to look for leaks is when the car is cooling down..go around the engine bay with a torch.
what year is the car?

2003 1.8 turbo, i've looked when the car is running - no steam/spray, but when cooler a small drip running down the sump (to the right of the bolt) wipe it off and a small oily drip returns - i think its oily /dirty from running down the sump

Two things to check, since the coolant leak seems to be running down the block. First is the inlet manifold seals. These are well known for leaking. The coolant may run around the head to block joint and appear at the front of the block. The second is the drain at the bottom of the cam belt housing behind the crankshaft pulley. Leaks from the pump will drip from this spot which is fairly near the sump drain plug. The commonest leaky place on these engines is the upper T-piece just behind the radiator. A Gerry-T fixes that.

I personally wouldn't rely on it as a permanent fix,
and would search out and correct/fix fault.
