Adding CD to Harmony (newbie, sorry!)
Hi, first post (whoop!).
My 75 is fitted with the Harmony head unit, and nothing else (why oh why a CD player wasn't standard in a car of this pedigree, is a debate for another day). Am I right in thinking I just need one of these: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.d...m=200135675224 and one of these: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.d...m=200136434863 to add CD? And will this retain the steering wheel controls? Cheers, D. |

Hi there. Welcome to our little community. And so business.
The CD changer looks the part. Part numbers are according to the information quoted on this site as follows (Alpine units - mounting brackets beneath the changer): XQE100430 XQE105560 XQE000110PMAD VUB102140 VUB105400 (No I don't know the difference) The lead is not the right one and is for a Land Rover Freelander. The Harmony uses the large block BMW style connectors. Depending on the age of your vehicle, it might (if you haven't already checked) be fitted and tucked up behind the central console. I undid my Harmony and pulled it out to check whether the CD cable was fitted (it wasn't) so I found one on Ebay. I think they may still be available from Rimmers / Xpart. The part number required is VUL100310 for a Harmony and VUL100330 for the Symphony. Look in the "How To" forum and there is an excellent piece on how to fit the CD changer. I read this through and fitted one to my Tourer without any trouble. PS. If the CD changer is the compatable one , it will work with the steering wheel controls. As I say, read the "How to". Good Luck Last edited by EnEnGee; 20th August 2007 at 15:56.. |
