Ford Fiesta auto 2063
My daughter car will not start the engine this morning, it won’t turn over at all, once it did it before but the battery negative wire was loose. I tried the wire and it starts no problem after I tightened the wires to help it., it’s also stuck in park and won’t remove as the engine is still unstarted.
I.’m wondering if the wire on the starter needs looking at but I can’t get to it without jacking the car up. I think she’s going to get a green mechanic after work tonight. Does any one any ideas?

First, check the battery. Cold batteries give less charge, as a poorly battery in the warm could be a dead battery in the cold.
Take the trouble to jack the car that way you can check the following: Earth strap engine - chassis or battery Solenoid connectors - next to starter motor Giving the motor a sharp tap sometimes helps too (NOT TOO HARD) |

Thanks Nick, the battery is perfect this morning as she use it every day, I’m not allowed to Jack the car up as I’m still waiting for a set of operation on my head, but she will be some soon so I think she will have the green machine company to look it. It was run fine yesterday but didn’t turn over at all today, so hopefully it should be fairly .

Before doing anything else, test to see if starter leads are tight and clean on the starter itself. Also, have you actually tested the battery and leads to see if any charge is in the battery. This weather, batteries can go in five minutes into no charge from a duff cell.

The cf mechanic thought the electrical may be towards the starter motor, she is going to book it in to there local garage to have it looked at..
