Jodrell Bank
Went to visit Jodrell Bank today! Got to wander around the HUGE 66 metre diameter Lovell radio telescope (piccies below), and watched a 3D film about the sun and the planets etc (and how Pluto isn't a planet any more!) Nothing new in the film, it was really aimed at kids/teens, but still quite interesting and the 3D effect was cool. It was a bargain afternoon out really, £2 to get in, and £1 to watch the 3D film!
The sheer size of the dish was awesome... and when you consider it all moves to point in any direction or angle, even more so. British engineering at its best. Used my Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ7 camera for the piccies...

We drove up to a superb sound and light show projected onto the dish last year...awesome, got home at 03.00!! I will try and post a video clip up.We had a splendid day yesterday walking from Bucklers Hard down to Beaulli all along by the river...my shots were hopeless...I must get a Digital SLR this year, my current electric camera will just not do what its told!!P.

Just down the road from us...well only 10 miles away!
I walk the dog along the west coast rail line everyday and I get a birds eye view of the dish as I cross the railway bridge. Its a fab visit especially for the kids...wifee got a bit bored though!
