Question Barcode Key Database

Is it possible to obtain barcodes from a database for the keys on a 75?

Are there any suppliers that provide these services?

Not available. If you lose your bar code then you will not be able to reprogram your key to a SCU. However, we can supply replacement PCBs with bar codes for Rover 75 & MG ZTs.

So if I want to replace an ECU with new I need to purchase new keys too? unless the original supplying dealer kept them???

Can you clarify what you mean by replacement PCBs with bar codes? Is this a PCB insert that fits inside the keys? If so could you confirm what the PCB costs?

I thought the plip codes were in the bcu? and just the chip info in the ECU (up to 10) when adding plip codes you can save the origional ones even if the codes aren't present. I'm sure you can code a new ecu without the bar codes for the plips. Or have I misunderstood the origional question as it's been a while since i did this?

The PCB is the small circuit board inside the key. We sell these for £40 plus VAT.

I wanted to know if I have to replace a faulty ECU with a new ECU do I require the key barcodes, and by the sound of your explanation it seems possible.

I thought the owner of the vehicle needed to keep barcodes safe, because if they get lost and you required a new ECU then you would need to purchase a new key/s too?

Good info to know. So just a straight swap with your existing key internals?

Now you have me interested.. What use are these without the codes to pair them to the car?

Can I use one of these to repair a faulty key.. (It's not the switches or battery)
