Default How much grief to get to Auto Level plug?

Hello
I wanted to top up the Auto box on my car / see if its low etc. How much car needs to be removed to get to the level and fill plugs? (if any) or can I get to the required spots from under the bonnet with not alot of hassle

thanks

All done from underneath, undertray off and there it is.

Word of warning, only use the correct oil it is specific. and closely follow the how to on here. should be changed every 60k but must be done right.

Also be aware that it is possible to undo the wrong nut and part of the innards falls off. This then becomes a very expensive job to fix. So make sure you have the correct nut located.

On the KV6 The level bolt/allen key is directly under the car.

To refill the auto box oil the filler cap is at the front top of the box, remove the air box and there it is, a push fit plastic bung (end of screwdriver)

Thanks for that. I'll go hunting for the level plug this weekend. Problem is no pit so I can't get the car up and even to remove it with the engine running.. hmmm...

Default Auto level

You do not need a pit to check the level on the auto box, just remove the engine undertray. It cannot be stressed enough that the level plug
(recessed 5mm Allen key) is on the BOTTOM of the box near the gear selector cable coil spring. If you undo anything on the side of the box you will lose reverse gear and the box will have to be rebuilt.

so there is enough room to get to the level plug when the car on all four wheels?
a level plug.. on the bottom of the box.. thats a new one. How does it show level, and not drain everything out - if thats a simple enough question (I know level is checked with the engine running )

Default level plug

Yes, there is obviously an internal passageway up to the correct level
but it throws everybody the first time as it is so illogical. Once you know where it is you will find it easy to finally check the level with the car on level ground. You have to get the knack of removing the engine undertray in this position.
