No idea about the printer Brian, some print outs use the spooler and others print direct from RDS, The HP350 i have works everytime although the paper feed can be a little hit or miss!
I think we need a T4 forum section to share hints and tips, i have never had problems with it connecting or hanging until i got the 75 |

It's not unusual to have no serial number or even chassis number, I wouldn't worry too much about it - doubt it's anything to do with the date, just coincidence

The pink/white to connector 603 is j1962 plug so check the pins on the connector at the ecu and the diagnostic point for problems. or even the run on main harness from the fuse box (wheel arch area)

Re andyd358 : The immobiliser isn't anything to do with the alarm, The alarm is part of the BCM,
Usually lack of serial no is due to replacement unit ecu's being fitted in a hurry and only the vin no gets programed in. Sometimes a flash update at the dealers doesn't carry the serial no either |

The Thing with the serial number happens just ignore it
be cautious with any Engine ECU especially if T4 offers to remap it, some 3rd party DDE remaps are not as invisible as the suppliers say and T4 will offer to over write it with the factory version result an unhappy user! if in doubt use a KWP2000 to make a backup. Chasing faults via fault explorer is not the best route Decide if you have a fault first then apply logic to the problem, you really don't want to rip the car apart simply to try following a check here then here then here approach which is all you are really getting from that tool. If using an older slower Testbook T1 etc use a decent battery charger these units are so slow you can get errors simply if the battery voltage starts to drop whilst waiting for results I would not recommend using a T1 to do any car coding it screws up some dealer options (lazy lock and vent) if set by later Testbooks Only consistent error I ever get with T4 and Diesels are comms failures to the FBH. |

It was probably down to kack on the DDS4.0 connections, rater than anything else, as once I had disturbed the connectors & remade the connections, all was fine. The only other issue I had was I was unable to print a Report for Andy, as my T4 kept hanging up on the discus print spooler, now I'm using the hp deskjet 450 which came with my system, but I have a disc hp 350 printer fix, just wondered if that was anything to do with it? Cheers Brian. |

I was referring to the T1 I repaired for Lates that was unbelievably slow!
I use a decent speed laptop and mount a CD ISO for the diags cd using PowerIso that makes it so much faster Also a different laptop sometimes makes the difference between whether T4 will talk to a V8 or not as I think that is down to a timing issue so I sometimes juggle laptops around! If you run RDS under W2K3 server you can regain some control over the PC for screen dumps etc as RDS can not completely take over as the system Shell. I am absolutely amazed we have not yet seen a Chinese clone system |
