I just remembered there was a really good guide to the XK8 knocking around the web. Have a read of this guide as it's way more informed than me

I've also thought of my 2.5 litre, is 190 really enough for this engine size? I guess times have moved on, and the likes of FIAT can squeeze 180 bhp out of a 1.4L and slam it into a punto. I wonder what I could do, to increase power, by quite a lot too, apart from turbo-charging that is?
The 260 gets a 2v head that was standard in the Mustang GT c.03-04. There are 3v and 4v heads but they don't fit in the ZT body shell (Dreadnought's ZT500 has a 4v head (?) (and super charger) but to fit that in there are a lot of alterations and wouldn't be feasible in a road car). With a little tinkering with bolt on's you could get it up to 280-290, with reworked heads and camshafts, maybe 320 but for the money that would cost you would be better off doing the s/c and hitting 400-420.

The cost of the s/c is quite high compared to the current value of the car, but where could you buy a 400bhp saloon for (combined cost) of £12-15,000?

I'm still n/a and have done a few bits which would take me to c.290bhp and I just love it. Everyone who has one seems to be smitten and very few on two-sixties seem keen to sell.

I am not convinced mine goes better now in 5th than my previous 260 did in 3rd that I think is a bit optimistic at normal road speeds anyway.

However it does definitely go ****** well in 3rd and 4th things behind very very rapidly become small dots. Unfortunately just as the car really starts really moving you are well over the speed limit so have to behave.

40-90 is stunning

Just watch the water levels in the intercooler resevoir like a hawk, no water may = big bang!

Worth fitting a low-level warning to it perhaps? An audible buzzer might be good?

I've had my supercharged MG ZT 400 for over 2 years now and would highly recommend it to anyone. Takes a little while to get used to how the power comes in, but once you are-WOW-fantastic. The best part is surprising Audi RS4's who think "there's no way this old Rover will leave me for dead". Performance is noticed best at motorway speeds, couple it with some loud X-Power exhausts and what else can you get for the money that makes you beam everytime you drive her?

You could buy a secondhand Jaguar XJR - 400bhp plus classic looks as well.

Yeah, but I guarantee that if you buy a monogram ZT 260, spend the money turning it into a ZT 400 and invest in some X-Power exhausts-you'll get more looks than any old Jag!

Supercharger has now been mine for a few weeks now and I love it. The only thing I miss is the V8 at full chat as this is now masked by the supercharger whine. I have done over a 1000miles in the last few weeks, more than planned but hey could drop dead tomorrow.
MPG ranges from highs of 25mpg lows remain unreviewed as frighted to work it out.
As for the jaguar xk8/r, when I was in the process of finding my V8 I did drive a 51 plate black XK8. The dealer was looking for over 20k it was a good one though. However the drive was a little bit of a let down. It was old feeling and not to fast and the back seats could hold a bag, not the wife just a bag for carrying things.
So happier all round with the one car that can do 5 adults and light speed!!!!
