Sat nav question
Just bought a cheapo B*M MK3 sat nav to replace my faulty Rover unit, ignition on all seems to be ok, start up and I am asked to input a code (5 digit), radio/tape/cd all works in the background but the screen (hiline) remains the same. Any ideas guys?

Update........
Bit strange, when first connected screen displayed in the menu 'Trip Computer' (I've got the IPK with this already in car), 'Set Up' etc etc with 'DSP' greyed out, six menu options in total (usually 4 with the old Rover one). Left it for 20-30 mins, back in car, no code required 'DSP' and 'Trip Computer' gone from menu and all working as normal....BUT no splash screen. I thought I'd get this when I swapped over to the B*W mk3 and would have to re flash with a Rover one??!!! The Hi Line sat nav was a retrofit job about 18 months ago, all worked ok so didn't bother with T4, is this perhaps the reasons? Should I update the software? |

You do of course need the different O/S software with the Rover or whatever splash screen Installed on it.
Your problem, if you have the disc is that you may have to roll back to O/S to V28 or lower then insert the V32 O/S disc with new splash screen on. You can make a disc yourself, there is detailed instructions on site or some sell the Disc from £10 + P&P upward on EBay and here. You don't need a T4 if the Hi Line was an original fitment to car. |

Odd though that a code was asked for then not now!! And two options have disappeared from the menu!! (Trip Computer and DSP(?)) No splash screen at all, no option to set clock (I know it wont stay). Strange? Any idea how to get into any service menus, bearing in mind it's the B*W Mk3?

Others have had the same problem with the Trip Computer option.
When I retro fitted Hi Line sat nav there was no Trip Computer, however it was activated by a session on a T4 unit. http://www.the75andztclub.co.uk/foru...3&postcount=14 How to enter the service menu. http://www.the75andztclub.co.uk/foru...80&postcount=3 Dave T Last edited by Duotone; 30th November 2009 at 18:55.. |

The donor car the unit was ripped out of had DSP etc so the Nav comp still expect to find those parts
Typically on first power up the menu will have such options but then they gray out and the dissappear as the Nav comp can't poll the devices. OBC should be there though and the code input is another BMW feature that does not work in our cars If necessary disconnect the battery again it will correct itself eventually. |

Thanks guys, DSP gone along with OBC!! Thankfully for the moment no B*W splash screen, in fact none at all at the moment! Looks like another £70 for the garage to T4 it properly for me.
