I hope to do a brim test on the Elstree meet

I did read on several forum replies that the trip computer appears to be quite accurate overall and is around 2mpg out

Do you find this too pab?

I compare my brim to brim with my computer figure and it tends to be 2mpg higher on the computer. I take this into account when I look at the 'range' on the computer.

I am not planning to have this on the message centre again whilst rolling onto the fuel forecourt.

Cheers

Is the air bag warning light on to tell you the car is about to cut out will deploy to stop you banging your head when it shudders to a halt?

I once drove about 8 miles with 0 miles showing one night after a concert before I could find a fuel station. It was about half 12 at night and very nearly lead to some brown trousers. On another occasion when my dials went mad, I had £10 worth left, I know it was exactly that as I went to fill up. The range computer though said I could do 2400 miles on my £10. I tried to take a picture of it but didn't have my phone to do so. I've also had it say I've been getting 900 odd MPG in the past, I'll post a picture soon of some fantastic amount it came up with once.

I have a 1.8 non turbo Conn SE and generally for day to day 10 mile commutes I average between 36 and 32 MPG depending if I go the steady or speedy route. The least I've ever had over a full tank was 28.8 during the only couple of weeks of summer we had when I had the aircon on constantly, so it's not bad. On the motorway at a continual 70 it returns between 44 and 42 every time with it dropping to 38-40 when I use the aircon.

Although the turbo seems to return less, the extra torque is still tempting.

I've managed almost 500 miles from the R75 and that was loaded on mainly motorway miles sticking to 70-75mph. The ZTT on the other hand with similar driving will achieve 400 miles per tank which is a fair difference. Truth be told I've always been a bit disappointed with the consumption of the 1.8T which can't be too far off the V6? Judging by the posts though 400 miles is about the norm for the turbo?
