Grey here too - but the sun is making a determined effort to break through - fingers crossed.
After a day "at home" due to persistent rain yesterday, we're venturing forth today - off to visit the Lincolnshire Aviation Heritage Centre )oh - and pick up some more cider as supplies are exhausted

Afternoon all, had some nice spells of sunshine after dinner time and not as muggy as of late either, I decided to start lifting the loose fags in the driveway & re-pointing them before the dreaded heatwave arrives later in the week.

Got a good deal at the local builders yard, burst bags of sand 50p each I splashed out & bought four

Lamb shanks in mint gravy, mashed spuds & veggies for tea even got enough ripe strawberries out the greenhouse for puddin'

We have blue sky and a strange yellow orb thing in it, radiating heat, anyone know what it is?

Was it a smoking fag or the other type?

A few pics from the last few days in Lincolnshire -

Not a Norwegian Blue (Monty Python fans!) but close:-

Who's a pretty boy then?

Jane the Lancaster .....

DSCF3369 by Rod Thrower, on Flickr

..... taxiing with all four engines running - pretty noisy !

Nice bomb

Finally, Bob's own personal fuel bowser for The Bear

The Lancaster NX611, Just Jane, part of the collection at the Lincolnshire Aviation Heritage Centre, is perfectly capable of taxiing runs, and as the pilot demonstrated, the engines will run up to nigh-on take-off revs. It is not yet licensed to fly, but the Museum is making every effort to achieve that dream. The plane is the only privately owned one in the world, and one of only four that can move under their own power. It is a very touching sight when you look at the number of bombers and personnel (848 of the latter from this one airfield) which were lost. Without their sacrifices, we probably wouldn't be allowed to post on the web half the things we do.

We must ALWAYS remember them.

The lanc makes a superb noise doesn’t it Rod, can’t imagine how dozens of them must have sounded when flying in anger.
