Hi all the daughter has asked me to get kodi for her but I am at a loss on what box/stick to go for.
So for cheapness I was thinking fire stick but would like to hear what your opinions are, only for addons Thanks

A customer of mine demonstrated a fire stick with Wookie installed on it
Every channel thinkable is on there .............for free. Even movies which aren't out yet Streamed from the Chinese servers which don't abide any copyright laws They copy everything don't they. At least it's not giving Murdoc anything to add to his wealth

Firestick for us and no probs there. Occasional pauses in playback but think that's the wifi rather than the stick or Kodi.

I use a MX III 4K box. I Bought it about 18 months ago, and its never given me any problems.
I would recommend also buying a mini wireless keyboard as it saves a lot of faffing about when you want to input "Searches" http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2-4G-Mini-...4AAOSwJQdW~fnU |

As an avid Kodi user (and have been since it was XBMC (XBox Media Centre and only available for hacked XBoxes) Please take a read of this before buying "Fully loaded" kodi boxes.
https://kodi.tv/the-piracy-box-selle...-killing-kodi/ I'm sure some of you know what you are getting into when you get these and that's 'fine' (by me...) but not everyone does. remember Kodi is free software, created by a community of people who largely don't get paid for their work (it's open source) but that also means for a project as popular as kodi, there's a nice easy avenue to "fork" the code and insert any amount of dodgyness into it, (not to mention that the fully loaded boxes will come with all plugins known to man installed and ready to go, even the ones of a very very adult nature, which are normally a little harder to install than just selecting from a list and clicking 'enable') For my mind the only way to run kodi is to be in full control of it. i.e. put it on a known device (be it a windows/linux/mac computer, vanilla android stick/tablet/box or even a raspberry pi (my weapon of choice) and get the installers directly from https://kodi.tv/download/ or through a legit channel (unfortunately amazon and ebay pre-configured boxes don't usually count in this sense) Now don't let my rant put you off this wonderful piece of software, just forewarned is forearmed...

Thanks I'm in the same boat been using it for years and now onto mrmc for my Apple TV, used to jump between xbmc and media portal but settled on xbmc when I gave up the tv tuners.
I was looking at a pi3 but seemed dear when compared to a stick when all she will be using it for are addons

sorry, back to your original question ( :p )
I have kodi installed on a fire TV, but unless you jailbreak it (or whatever the fire equivalent is...) you have to install it via the backdoor (ADB - a developer tool to sideload non-appstore apps) and even then, it's not available through the normal apps menu, you have to go through several system menus to get to it, so i'd stick with a standard android device, unless you don't mind jailbreaking the fire stick (not even sure what the current state is of that...) my plugin of choice used to be genesis, but development of that ground to a halt, but i now use exodus which is more or less identical. (I'm not going to detail what it does but it's pretty much all i use in kodi now...) Oh and a Pi 3 is overkill. a cheap Pi2 is fine for almost everything (I still haven't got round to updating off my Pi 1 B+ as it still serves me just fine despite having a Pi2 waiting in the wings )

Yip copy that, exodus only except when the F1 is on is all I use since Genesis at the end of last year.
If she had a PC or laptop that would solve everything but no Apple only lol
