So, after 1300km 1l oil gone again, and as i calculate,
this is my avg. consumption. My question is, where should i start searching the problem? Forget to mention. I usually use it on highway and rpm is around 4,8-5k Thanks, D. |

That means you're driving at 110 mph! Try reducing speed.

One liter per 1000 km is certainly possible, but not normal for "modern" engines.
The next problem is what oil do you use? If you use a monograde that could perhaps explain it. Your revs seem high. Is it an automatic or a manual box?

@SD1too: yes, more likely 100 mph
@kaiser: Liquid Moly HC7 5W/40. And it's a manual. Regards, D. |

You should use the oil that MG Rover specifies. Here is the complete engine oil data.
The specified grade is a semi-synthetic one. It's very important that your selected brand complies with the ACEA specification show above. It will be printed on the container. Do not use an oil without knowing the ACEA spec. TC |

If you can get it try Castrol Magnatec 10/40 semi synthetic. Use A3/B3, more upto date oil.Same oil as you can use in a Diesel engine. A3 is the updated version of A2 oil.On another note,if you are constantly driving at 100 mph, you can expect to use oil in an old engine that has covered a lot of miles. Have a look at the exhaust pipe. Is it clean? Has it got an oily residue inside it? If it has, you have your answer. It is burning oil. My bet is that it is oily! Let us know please.
