Default Just about to start Formula - E Mexico. Ch 601

Currently watch Formula - E on FREEVIEW 601 Channel. Mexico the venue... and the crowds there look as huge as for the Mexico F1 racing... interest on the increase by the looks of it.

It took me a while to get to grips with Formula-E and it's rules but I'm slowly getting used to it. I'll be watching more of it this season.
I've been reading Dacia are going to throw their hat into the EV ring next year with what will be Europe's cheapest BEV. https://insideevs.com/news/398676/da...g-europe-2021/

It's now official! Renault has just confirmed a BEV Dacia within two years as their cars wont meet the new emission limits, Get this! It will be less than euros10K in Germany after subsidies https://www.electrive.com/2020/02/17...hin-two-years/

Independent individual private transport has evolved massively over the past century in the UK.

Housing, Factories, Supermarkets, Jobs and Careers have been set up and evolved around individual personal transport. Some, nay many folks have silly high daily to-from round trips for their job commute. That entirely dependent on individual personal transport. Back in the 1970s, for several years I was a Relief Manager for a nationwide company with branches all over England and Wales. I covered holidays and staff absences from as far apart as Swansea in the West, Morecombe in the North and London in the South. No way could that job be effectively undertaken by trains and buses. It simply don't work like that. Millions of folks rely on individual personal transport to simply get to work and back home. Even with the Transport infra-structure of the great Metrollops, when I and my then Girlfriend lived in London, our public transport commute involved three hours added to both our working days. That's about thirty hours extra stress and expense.

To unravel a hundred years of that transport evolution and get folks onto nonexistent Public Transport for much of the country, simply isn't possible and almost certainly will never be no matter what action is taken by any Government taking advice from public sector bean counters.

All hail Smart Motorways... The way to go for the Dumb-ass plonkers who dreamed that improvement up. Go permanently being the operative word for some unfortunate individuals. Bean counters rule but, should NEVER be allowed to do.

Electric rapid transit (eRT) seem to be the buzzword now! Good job I've got my bus pass and I think I should have kept hold of my pushbike by the sound of it. https://www.localgov.co.uk/Councils-...ormation/50017

Ouch! It's not getting any better out there! I've read about local authorities bringing in more expensive parking permits for multi vehicle owners before.

Newham council looks set to introduce them & also readdress the whole residential permit system, the cost will now be based on five emission-based charging bands, with parking for electric vehicles being free. https://airqualitynews.com/2020/02/2...ting-vehicles/

Born and bred in London's East End, back in my little boy junior schooldays, the only car owned down our street was my uncle Fred's Ford Popular. Now folks fight for parking spaces in that street. We took our two sons when they were small boys to the areas in both Stratford and Walthamstow where their Mum and Dad grew up. Without prompting, both exclaimed "What a dump Dad!"

Know what, those young eyes see things as they really are. Not how their parents remember them. The place is not anywhere as near a nice place to live as it was back in the 1950-60s. Back then it was probably the best place for any working class family to live in the whole World. Not now.

If someone offered me a million quid to go back and spend the rest of my days to live there I would decline the offer.

Just before he died of the BIG C, my lifelong friend, the only friend or relative of many NOT to move out of East London ( Chingford ) ... whilst frail and terminally sick, he was mugged at a Cash Point.

No rose tinteds involved, it did not used to be like that.

I blame .....

More warped thinking. Now non-electric vehicles will just keep driving around...... Cheaper than parking.

Now I have my “Boris pass “ I try not to use the car for anywhere the parking is difficult. On Wednesday I went to a local town centre about 20 minutes drive away. It took me over 2 hours on the buses - had to change once then every one got turfed off the second as the driver had been instructed to terminate his destination to even out the arrival times.

Oh well, at least it’s free !

Coventry want you to trade in your old car for £1500-£3000 scrappage money but it will come in 'Mobility credits' towards public transport, taxis or a new bike, not another vehicle https://www.forbes.com/sites/carlton...t#2093d2d42042
