Abs light and Handbrake help,
Hi guys,
The ZT-T is almost ready for the MOT, But I have two issues which are delaying me, 1st, Abs light, I've changed both rear sensors, and Hub bearings, (quite a bit of noise when i was driving from the passenger side), the passenger side bearing casing was in bits when i took it off, But wondered if there was a way to get the abs light off without driving the car? I was considering popping the car on stands and getting some help and rotating all the wheels to see if this would help, I dont have access to a t4, and can't drive the car without mot/tax, ANy advice/help 2nd, Handbrake cable, I've completely rebuilt the rear brakes, Pads, shoes, Discs, springs, handbrake cable, modified compensator, Ive been through the hanyes manual and followed the procedure to the letter, Problem i have is, the handbrake is holding at around 8-9 clicks, I'm guessing that i need to adjust the compensator at the shoes, Or have I missed something, Again any help would be appreciated.

ABS light, few choices. If your car is 2001, TOAF could read your airbag ECU and help pinpoint problem. Alternatively if you get your multimeter out there are many simple diagnostic you test you can do, do a search on here for ABS light and I have found Frenchmikes posts very helpful in the past. You could also pay a trader who does mobile to come to you.
The handbrake will need adjusting at the hubs, plenty of information on here if you search. If you trawl member Artics posts you will find what you need. Good luck with MOT Sent from my GT-I9195 using Tapatalk |

with the handbrake off you should set the adjuster in the rear hubs to just rub on the drum (after 3-4 handbrake pulls to centre the shoes).
With 3 clicks the hubs should be locked.

Cliff with regards to the ABS light if you have changed both rear sensors and hubs what you really need to do is drive it, I know and hear you saying you can not because of the MOT, but all that maybe needed for the light to go out is a drive of about 200 yards.
I have known the ABS to be turned off with T4 only for it to come back on when driven initially then go out once up the road a few hundred yards and stay out. With hand brake as Pete says back off the front nut on the cable to the end of the thread, adjust at the rear, so both wheels are locked on then back them a few turns until you can feel a little drag, back to the front adjust to the 25 mm thread showing and you should be good to go.

Thanks for the quick responses guys,
I'll get the handbrake adjusted tuesday when im off, and will risk the run to the mot station with the hope that the abs light goes out.

Halfway around a cul de sac turned mine off. Worth trying a couple yard run in car to turn it off. I changed front hub and was gutted, light was shinning bright, I took it round cul de sac so I could reverse it onto drive and the light reset itself and has been off for 18 months and passed two MOTs
