As a general rule if the battery goes flat in under a week and you have not left anything on or have a fault it is probably due replacement. Most cars should last several weeks and still start but as cars and there batteries get older this can be reduced.

My neighbour has a 15 year old Fiesta that stays on his drive for weeks at a time unused, he can leave that as long as a month between starts and it always just fires up.

Then I’d turn on all accessories and see what charge rate it’s producing, A fluctuating charge rate is sometimes caused often by the regulator.

However if you have a drop tester available like I do I would simply drop test it initially And that would allow me to get a insight into the battery condition itself.

You will find that in some cases our alternators fail early due to the alternator not be protected with rags or the such like when changing the oil filter, not suggesting that this has happened in your case.

Does the battery light illuminate while the engine is running? And do you have message center or a non message centre IPK
Hope that helps
Mick
Hi Mick it has a message centre.

Hi.

You could be right, I have Diesel and a V6, they are also left standing and go back to them after even a couple of weeks and they both start okay.

Does it ever illuminate in the message centre saying charge fault ?
Also using IPK diagnostics section 19, then section 9 you can monitor the charging vaults using on-board diagnostics
