Default 20 feet and Twang .

Thats all I managed this morning.. pulled away at my junction crossed the white line and massive Bang.

Knew straight away .. . reversed back to parking space and lots of curly dirty plastic in the road.
So lil Zr to the rescue to get to work .

Its the offside front again.. ever since this corner was insurance repaired with " Quality parts" .. its had problems with the Wheel bearing ( 4k miles), track rod arm ( 5k) .. lower arm ( 10k) and now the spring , its only the strut left that hasn;t fell off yet? .. .

so new spring needed ! best add it to list of MG jobbies to do .

You could write a book on that number of woes.

Twenty feet is well over two fathoms so you could pen it ... Mark Twang.

My spring went when I finished work the other morning. It seems very common with the original springs during or following a cold spell. Replace both sides or you'll find the other side goes too. If you don't have spring guards fitted to protect your tyres get some.

Both front spring broke while it was parked up. So that at least three it needs. Fortunately just picked up a pair of protectors on ebay. Are they still generally available? - I can't see either Rimmers or DMGRS listing them.

That's not good Chris, was that on the V8?

I was lead to believe that ZT springs rarely snap due to them being thicker.

I recently broke a spring hitting a pot hot (didnt know it had broke, but was waiting for the hiss that also didnt happen!!) and didnt even know I already had a broken rear spring. Last week as I was about to take the car to the garage for some welding, I noticed that the car seemed a little low and yep, the other front spring had gone overnight with no movement and a very cold snap!! so 3 to change, I done, 2 left!

Note to self:- 'Must remember to slow down more for that hump-back bridge on the way to work, even if I haven't lost much off my mudflaps!'

It does seem that Our Suspension Spares situation has gone from the original MGR Mind numbing number of permutations for the 75 and the ZT down to ... heres some springs/Shocks/Struts for a 75 or a ZT .. with no indication as to the models they are suitable for .

Even DMGRS advertise struts for 75/ZT with no model differentiation .. which I would sumise these are for the 1.8 (as coming from China) and completely unsuitable for the 2.5 or the Diesel ??.

I've had seller replies like .." Yes they are ok they just ride a little lower !"

The aftermarket stuff is just a generic spring one fits all type, They will as the sellers say sit lower but will also be bouncier when out on the road zts sat lower than 75's so may end up sitting higher if you fit a 75 spring.

I fitted lowering springs on the zt a few years ago but they've all broken and were replaced with the ones from my old zt but these again have broken, Most recent just last week on the way home from work.

The fronts were in 3 pieces the last time I changed them and failed at the top not the bottom like the oem ones unless I fitted them upside down .

Maybe try best of british on ebay I think they had sets listed not that long ago at work so can't search as it's blocked.
