Default Front arm bushes in different sizes ?

Has anyone else seen this advert on ebay . It suggests there are two sizes for the hex ends of the front arms
https://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/i.html?_d...nkw=rover%2075
They offer replacement inserts for the bush housings to fit either 22mm or 25mm hex ends on the arm This could explain why I can't get my new bush to fit onto my new 28 mm arm ........

Hi Chris,

I would steer clear of that eBay listing if I were you, it doesn't make sense. Those parts are physically nothing like the originals. Judging by similar listings they may well be for BMW models.

Rimmer's diagram (which is taken directly from X-Part) confirms that there is only one size of front suspension lower arm.

When I did this job I bought new bush & housing assemblies directly from X-Part and fitted them to my original factory-fitted arm with no difficulty at all. Plus, the mounting holes lined up perfectly with the subframe without any of the forced rotation described by some members in other threads.

Simon

Cheers , Simon . Those are in fact my own thoughts too , but I thought it strange enough to draw attention to !

Default Bushes

I have used these on 2 different cars (the 25mm ones) and no real issues. They are a bit of a mare to get into the housing but once on are good.

Once in the housings , did they go onto the arms easily or was brute force required ?

I used a large mallet! If you hold the bush on the end of the arm then whack it hard it will go on, then just whack it down to the line of the old one. A bit of silicone grease helps!
