As long as You understand that its CMOS (Really no nightvision) and Doesnt have the real Sony Lenses, The reason I Went to these ones that I have now is because I was getting a 50% failure rate or more on the others CMOS and lower quality SANYO Lenses and Copies of Sony Lenses.. etc etc I think I have had 1 defect in the current ones out of literally hundreds sold
It hardly seems worth the savings especially when you consider the installation time

I use a cheap camera - out of the 3 I've had, all worked fine...

Quality is ok - not brilliant, but it's a reversing aid not a recorder, the quality is good enough to see where the stuff is behind me.

Thanks for that Sean & Jakq, its literally a small aid as i have reversing sensors also, so for £24 its worth a go. I have paid via Paypal & CC so if brakes in a few months i shall simply claim the money back. Installation time seems to be the wiring so the unit can always be swapped easily if need to upgrade etc

(P.S Sean can you get back to me on the part refund for DD missing the TMC! Thanks, Sam)

Late cars dont have the brown green on the pin, You can take the feed from the boot. Personally for the extra wiring I would not use wireless but go wired its easy to run the video cable from the boot to the unit.

There are two power supplies with different types of connectors so use the appropriate one. I taped the spare one up to make sure it didn't short out on anything. You don't need to connect it to anything else. It's a generic unit so the power supply depends on which car it is plugged into either one does the same thing just insulate the one you don't use.

The pink cable has to be connected to the brown/green one. Mine was in this connector

which I cut and then connected to the pink cable.

This activates the unit when reverse is selected. Even works when the head unit is turned off. Very clever in my books. I extended mine by using a bit of old household cable from an old appliance. It gave me a bit more room to pull the unit out so I could work on it.

I have since been back in and replaced all the large chocolate-box connectors with smaller ones I got from B&Q. Looks a lot neater now.

Nope not a pain; everyone struggles with understanding something at some time. I still haven't got the DVB-T box working and I still have a whistling on Am Radio and fuzziness on FM. Problems with aerial signals. Hopefully one day at a meet someone can fix it for me.

The only stupid question is the one you didn't ask.

I can't seem to find the #5 connector or the brown/green cable.

The connector marked 5 will be tucked away somewhere behind the head unit.

If you find plug 5 and there is no brown/green wire, then follow the plug 5 loom back and peel away any tape. Sometimes the wire is taped up in the loom.

Pretty sure all 75's and ZT's have plug 5.

Smile ZT Reversing Camera (wireless version)

Hi Mr Edd,

Great description of how to install the camera but unfortunately the photos you included do not seem to be attached. Do you have a pdf of the complete article you could send me.

Best Regards

Simon

Mr Edd left a while ago for the US so probably won't see your request.
