Default Just too excited

Annual letter from Pensions Service to say that as I reach 80 years old in the next financial year my pension will have an additional age benefit of 25p per week. Too much excitement for an 80 year old. Just think, after 10 years I could by a new tyre for my Connie. I wonder by then if I get another increase at age 90.

In just three weeks you can afford a 1st class stamp to send them a letter of thanks.

Congratulations, that well and truly overshadows the £2000 pay increase received by the members of parliament eh!

That is totally irrelevant.

I have to ask, Why do peasants always want more instead of accepting their place in life?

Happy events such these should be kept secret. When I told my darling Celia that I had claimed her unused Marital Allowance (£1150 pa) she insisted on equal shares. I admit that tested my diminishing powers of recovery. It took two visits to Bluewater and an hour in Zara on each occasion to recover normal guarded discourse. She even threatened to invoke holy intervention over the Winter Fuel Allowance being halved between us. There's just no gratitude any more. Even Brussels is more equitable.

I realise my wife only married me for my money so just to spite her I will die one day before my 80th birthday when the pension increase was due to kick in. However, I feel there might just be a flaw with this plan.
