Well normally I'd suggest Tom, but I don't know if he is up and running again or not!

Unhappy Dreaded sill worm

I wouldn't think it'll too long before Tom's up and running but he might be "playing catch up", then again he might be in need of some cash injection. It wouldn't hurt to contact him and find out the situation and explain that you're not in any great hurry, on the other hand it's not going to get any better.

I also need to start making plans to get him to give my tourer the once over. Let us know how he’s getting on as I’ll probably take a day off work and have a drive down for him to cost up the job.

Hi Scott.
That is how my sills started a little orange/brown mark a some flaky protective seal as soon as I removed the flaky part it became apparent the sill was rotted out and holed.

Both sides on my car were the same so check each side, also the penny washers will last for a while on the heat shield but will once again eat through the alloy, you need to make or use alloy washers as well other wise the two different metals will react against each other.

Ask me at the meet for some alloy discs I made up so the next time you are under the car you can change them Arctic

Incredible Scott. After my previous missive about jack points rusting, I have also found the heat shield has come adrift on one side. The car is so low that I can't get to it, so will be asking the local Bosch garage to have a look.

Steve, do the washers have to be alloy? Is stainless steel no good? I would have to warn them otherwise.
It's still in Italy and regrettably the weather here has been very wet. Glorious weather for the old tin worm!
