Kind of new! Advice wanted
Hi, I have rejoined this lovely forum after left in a hissy fit because my muched loved Conny V6 auto shreeded its cambelt and died. Anyway due to lack of cash i had to replace it with a ford focus which i am now tired of and am looking for another 75. My question is this, The thing i loved about my 2.5 V6 was the lovely burble noise and smooth running it had and looking around there seems to be plenty of 2.0 V6's about but not many 2.5's! so does the 2.0 V6 have the same burble and smooth running? Many thanks and a Merry Christmas!!

Same noise, smoother drive, just not so much power.

The larger engine has a longer stroke and a fair bit more torque. There's no real difference in terms of noise, the smaller engine is a bit more eager to rev.
Who were you last time round here then? |

Andy, are you sure the 2.0V6 has the same noise as the 2.5V6?
My previous two 2.0V6 75's sounded nothing like my current two 2.5V6 ZT's, the 2.0ltr doesn't have the same burble. ... or is the difference due to being a 75 and not a ZT? |

If you arent interested in needing the extra power the 2.0L is perfectly fine, but given they are quite a heavy old thing and the auto saps more power still the 2.5 is a more complete package, but you will still get all the noise although i agree above, they do sound different
As above the 2.0L is a little bit smoother due to its shorter stroke but not overly noticeable. Would you want another 75 or would you be open to a ZT? there are quite a few 2.5's for sale on trader and eBay etc.

Plenty of 2.5 that come up for sale. You may be disappointed going from a 2.5 to a 2.0.

Thanks guys, I don't want to be disappionted so i think the only way is to have a go in one. Just want the feeling of wafting about in my sitting room like i did with my old one. Such lovely cars, such a shame that they didn't make for long.
