So just to be clear, to get this to work, you need to buy the Intravee unit and the Alpine Interface adaptor too?

How much did you pay for each unit may I ask?

Also would it display correctly using the original Rover fitted Sat Nav equipment with 4:3 monitor, and non split screen sat nav video module in the boot?

Hi Reebs,
Yes, you do need the Intravee and the Alpine interface unit. Total cost around £170. I see no reason why this wouldn't work with the Rover sat nav equipment. The system still thinks its a CD changer so selecting CD on the MODE button would give the Artist, Album and Song title instead of CD1,2,etc.

Here's a pic' of the monitor in split screen mode. The left hand half is what your 4x3 would have. The problem with the Intravee is getting the lead to fit the CD changer. I spent considerable time trying to source this and the BMW 3 and 6 pin plugs (including this forum) but without success.

As for as I'm aware, Soundlinx do one but two of the wires need changing apparently, sadly, I don't know which. It was my intention to buy one and play with it but I haven't had the time. I might add that my Intravee up to now has been trouble free and brilliant.

I did buy an Icelink BMW loom for £44 before I spotted the Intravee, so if anyone wants that at that price, pm me for pic's.

O.K, I now have the iPod (well it's a start isn't it), having read this thread, and others regarding the Intravee can I just summarise and clarify a few bits with all you members who have this kit already.

The Alpine Interface adaptor has a limit of 511 Playlists/Artists/Albums, so as I have 5900 songs currently on my iPod, does that mean I won't be able to access most of my music using this system?

What about the Dension Gateway 300 that other members on here have suggested, does this do the same job & have a larger capacity for searching?

Well today I have finally fitted my intravee and ipod to my 75!

A few weeks before Christmas I tried to order the adaptor lead from soundlinx. The website let me place the order and I got an email confirming the order but nothing arrived. After waiting for about 2 weeks I emailed them and got this response:

As you can see this wasn't from soundlinx! It appears that Scorpion have taken over Soundlinx.

I asked about other parts as well and it turns out that any part number beginning with FWG is now obsolete.

So back to the drawing board...

The easiest way to convert the Rover 10 pin plug to the BMW 3 and 6 would just be swap the wires and pins into new plugs. After several hours searching I found a supplier for the 6 pin plug. You need three seperate component:

I couldn't find the three pin connector anywhere, however I happend to have a few spare of these. They had come attached to some second hand front tweeters I had bought once. It's also the same connector as found on the back of the clock, on the lead for the mircophone in the light cluster etc.

So with the aid of this post http://www.the75andztclub.co.uk/foru...11&postcount=4 (thanks Tim) I worked out that I needed to put the following wires from the Rover 75 loom into the following connectors:

3 pin plug (power and K Bus)
Pin 1: Black
Pin 2: Purple/Pink
Pin 3: White/Yellow

6 Pin plug (audio)
Pin 1: Pink/Black
Pin 2: Black/Pink
Pin 3: Empty
Pin 4: Yellow/Black
Pin 5: Black/Yellow
Pin 6: Empty


The 10 pin Rover connector comes apart quite easily - simply unclip the locking cover then slide out the 10 pin receptacle housing from the cover. Then you just need to push down gently on each pin's locking tab with a thin point (I used the probe from a multimeter) and they slide out. (Some needed helping under a second part of the housing that they got stuck on.

To avoid possiblity of short circuiting anything it's worth transferring the pins one by one. The new pins are numbered clearly and they slot straight in. Assemble the cover and locking devise for the 6 pin plug and you're done.

The intravee then plugs straight in and you're away.

I got an ipod lead with the KCA 420i, but this was a second hand item I got from ebay. I'm pretty sure they come with them though.

I think this means you can search through a maximum of 511 playlists or 511 artists or 511 artists.

Give each artist an average of say 20 tracks and you've got 10,220 tracks at your disposal.

From the intravee forum's FAQ (http://www.intravention.co.uk/forum/...p?topic=1112.0):

KCA-420i Search limitations

The KCA-420i has a search limitation of 511 of each of Playlists, Albums or Artists and 255 songs within the selected Playlist, Album or Artist. More than 255 Songs may be included in any Playlist, Album or Artist and those songs may be selected using the Next/Prev track and will be included when using Random mode, they will also display ID3 information while playing, the limitation is only on searching for a Song by name.

The impact of the limitation of 511 Playlists, Albums and Artists may be significantly reduced by careful organisation of your Music library, for example ensuring that you have no Artists that have multiple entries due to slightly different spelling.

It is most important to reduce the number of Artists to below the 511 limit if possible. If you can select the Artist then you can 'sub-pick' an Album by the selected Artist, up to a limit of 511 Albums by that Artist. A combination of using the 'Compilations' facility, see below, in iTunes and the use of Smart Playlists to create playlists for your compilations will allow full search capability for all but the largest music Libraries.
