There are some engines that respond to the map better than others, as mentioned here there may be a difference in the style of use the car had prior to your ownership which could have an effect. I will endorse the use of proper fuels based on my experience from several cars owned over the years - from performance ones to old snotters, they all gave better returns on say Shell and Esso compared to the unbranded supermarket fuels. I don't want a hornets nest created on this subject, but this opinion is shared by many who I know and certainly my car will soon let me know when rubbish is added to the tank when I expect it to perform properly, so this is avoided.

So things to maybe consider :

Fuel, like for like in both cars .
Tyre types - condition, pressures and steering settings true on both .
Proper servicing .

All of these would need to be considered as well as the fact that some engines seem more enthusiastic than others with the 160.
