best to slap something like sealer/ silicon underneath the the new washers and between the body and the shield to stop dis-similar metal corrosion or you'll be doing it agin a couple years with bigger washers

Ray as a temp fix the material won't matter their not going to disintegrate overnight.

Steve I remember your sills when I came over,I think k mine could look the same if I poked it! , fortunately the other side seems solid and no signs of orange flecks so I'll be booking a trip up north soon.

Regarding washer material what about using some hard plastic ? No chance of metal reaction but potentially could melt from the exhaust heat .?? Just a random thought ...

HI Scott.
I would stick to alloy and as above place a disc between the shield and the chassis body, a little plate is best again alloy 4" long if I remember right

I never thought about dissimilar metals.when I reattached mine, but I did put rubber blanking grommets with between the washer and shield to absorb vibration. 3 years on and there's no deterioration.

Use a longer bolt, with a large steel or S/steel washer with a large hard rubber tap washer behind it in contact with the alloy.

Thanks all , the holes on mine haven't gone oversize the rear of the shield has disintegrated so the washers are pinching what's left in place , but I'll look at what I have to put some isolation in between the various bits, for now it's secure and not rattling so I have a bit of time .
