Default Advice Needed...

As most people on here know I've struggled a bit financially since mum and Paul died last year and I lost my savings when I was off ill. Just recently I'd considered letting one of the 75's go to try and make ends meet a little better, but I hadn't been able to decide between the two as they both have good and bad points.

Yesterday, out of the blue my sister in law contacted me again after not speaking for a year. She is once again offering me Paul's ZT, but this time has come straight out with it and asked for money - not a great amount, but to me I would definitely have to sell one of mine, or maybe even both to be in a better place with money.

But the thing is, can I trust her after she said this once before and changed her mind, and even if she does go ahead, is it the right thing to do? Paul's car has been standing over a year. I would have no clue what it might need, if anything. It's a V6 auto.

It's body was lovely the last I saw, and compared to my two its low mileage. But my head and my heart are now torn on what would be the right and best decision for me?

Should I try and get it and drop to one car, Paul's car and save it, or should I try and keep one or both of mine? They both need little jobs doing, and I can't even sort those, and that is my concern.

I wish she hadn't put me in this position, but she has, and I don't know what to do.

Dunno how you can run 2 cars with no or little money. Seems you prefer the petrol versions too which I'm pretty sure are less economical. It's great to be enthusiastic about the marque but you musn't let that cause you financial hardship. Your decision of course but please consider your future peace of mind.

I feel for you Dawn.

It's a difficult choice.

Paul's car has such an emotional attachment but will cost quite a bit to run.

The others have such a history - you've invested so much time, money and love into them.

I think taking Paul's would be the choice from the heart but I'm not too sure the head would agree.

Maybe chat more at the nano?

Good luck.

Andy.

can you sorn and leave the cars you have uninsured?
is it worth you taking a look at pauls car to see if you do want it?
will she let you take the car and register it in your name before you pay?
I know a hard decision but putting yourself in financial difficulty could have long term repercussions and a decision you may regret.
Consider your financial future, if you have 3 cars how do you see your financial future?
if you get pauls car you can still sell one of more cars

My wife and I years ago were down to less the £1 in the bank after we bought a decent car but and its a big but, we had fulltime jobs and were earning enough to be able to save a small amount each month. Not a situation I would do again but young and fool hardy.

For me I, would make the decision on my financial future. will I soon be earning enough, will I go into debt I cant afford

Hi yes I will be at the Nano. Fuel costs dont worry me as I now work just 2 miles from home. Its just the constant worry of repairs on two and tax mot and insurance. My heart is torn between Paul's and Bones if I am honest but I cant tow with Bones. Pauls has a detachable bar so that would be ok. I dont even know if I can trust Diana after last time. But money wasnt being asked for then so maybe that was the problem.

I would need to sell mine to have Pauls which would make me better off as less tax insurance and repairs. But I dont know if it is the right choice or if I can trust my sis in law again.

Can be difficult with family. I have a rule not to sell things to friends and family. I sold a motorbike to a friend years back and months later after he had trashed it he went round saying I had sold him a dodgy one!

The danger here Dawn is that with the length of time elapsed - the car is not likely to be as it was or as you remember it.

Clearly an emotional tie. And one I can totally understand.

Your head will say one thing - your heart another.

Cheers Cliff. Maybe someone can answer this. My black one is with Peter Best but I am told new policies on classic are now for 1999 and older. Is this the same with ZTs? If I cant do classic insurance I cant have Pauls.
