18th Rover Club Schweiz Meet
I have received what looks like a rather wonderful event taking place in May in Switzerland, and would like to share it with you all.
Dear Rover friends, It is our pleasure to invitation you to the next international Rover meeting in Switzerland. The meeting will take place in the region of the Emmental. With its pictures villages and the rolling hills, it is one of most sort after region in the foothills of the Alps. A region steep in history, and a strong bond to its traditions. Last but not least, it is the home of the world fames Emmentaler Cheese. Located in the out-skirts of the Emmental, its beautiful rose garden and a generous park make it the perfect place to stay during our event. Event Schedule Thursday, 17 May 2018: From 15:00: Arrival and check in at Schloss Hünigen in CH-3510 Konolfingen 18:30: Reception and welcome aperitif (Offered from Rover Club Schweiz) 19:30: Dinner in the restaurant of Schlosshotel Hünigen Thursday is optional but, it is a good opportunity, to see rover friends from the past and enjoying a nice meal together not forgetting the bar where you can enjoy a cocktail or drink. Friday, 18 May 2018 Till 09:00: Arrival and check in at Schloss Hünigen (latecomer) in CH-3510 Konolfingen 09:30: Briefing; afterwards start to our tour ins Emmental. First, we will visit the E-Bike factory “Flyer” in Huttwil. After that we will continue our drive and head towards Affoltern where we visit the Schaukäserei and where they make the famous Emmentaler. E-Bike Web:http://www.flyer-bikes.com/ Emmental Cheese Web: http://www.emmentaler-schaukaeserei.ch/ ca. 13:00: Lunch in the Schaukäserei Affoltern im Emmental ca. 14:30: We will have a guided tour through the cheese dairy where you get to know how the big holes come into the Emmentaler cheese ca. 16:00 we will start our journey back to the hotel. 18:30: Dinner in the restaurant of the Schlosshotel Saturday, 19 May 2018 09:30: Briefing; afterwards we will start our tour towards the Gürbetal. The Gürbetal is famous for producing white cabbage, which after harvesting, is turned into Sauerkraut. 10:00: Viewing of the Oldtimer Galerie in Toffen, a place well known for its Classic cars and bikes auctions. They have a permanent display of about 120 cars and bikes on an area of 3'000 m2. Web: http://www.oldtimergalerie.ch/ 11:30: Lunch in the restaurant of the Oldtimer Galerie. 13:30: Our cars stay in Toffen and we hit the road with a classic bus from the Swiss manufacture Saurer 14:00: UNESCO Old town tour. The old town of Bern is listed since 1983 in the list of the UNESCO. Since medieval times the city is well documented and is based on plans form this era. 15:30: Stopover in the old tram depot. A meeting point for young and old. Since more than 15 years, an important location in Bern with its own brewery ca. 16:30: Ride back to Toffen with the Classic Saurer bus. After: Drive back to Schloss Hünigen with our own cars. 19:00: Gala-Dinner in the Schlosshotel Sunday, 20 May 2018: 10:30: Schloss brunch with a rich and exclusive buffet including warm and cold dishes in the restaurant Rosarium. After: Farewell and goodbye to the participants. Individual homeward journey. If you would like to extend your stay, this is possible and can be booked at the regis-tration. Eligibility requirements The number of participants is limited. The registration is handled „first come, first served“ Registration ends: Monday, 16 April 2018 Registrations fee: SFr. 330.00 per Person (Without Hotel) Included is: All entrance fees, road books, all aperitifs, lunch without drinks (Fr. & Sa.), dinner (Do, Fr. & Sa.) The accommodation in the Schloss Hotel are to be booked by each participant directly at the Hotel relating to “Rover Club Switzerland” Double room: CHF 230.00 per night (incl. breakfast) Single room: CHF 195.00 per night (incl. breakfast) Insurance is the responsibility of the participants. For damages that occur during the event, The Rover Club Switzerland is not liable. As usual with this event little notice of date and location, I asked back in June last year for the details of the 2018 International Rover meet without a reply.
We're planning our own Euro trip for 2019 though. Cheers Ian
