ex-dealer, won LR mechanic of the year. Jason has a unit these days in Wolverhampton. Very much recommended - the Hippo is going to his place on Friday for a new clutch. Only problem is he is so busy I'm not sure he would go mobile as far as Surrey.

I know he travels Pete, but agree, this could be too short notice!

What about Phil T4 (not sure if he will travel)

But to the OP; £900 is a pi$$ take, sorry!

Around half that and you're bang on!

Got him off the list from the link that was posted on here, had a good chat with him (Rob) really knows his MG's and Rovers, so I have every confidence.

Tech Know Services Ltd, 4 Berkeley Close, Staines-upon-Thames, Middlesex, TW19 6ED.
Tel: 07981 206069
Fax: 07092 046097
Mob: 07981 206069 (Rob)
E-mail: [email protected]
Info: Rob's worked on my car for the last 2 Saturdays. Fantastic service as I work away from home, I only have the weekends and he's come round to mine to sort my car out. Fantastic bloke, fantastic service and excellent prices. He carries all the gear with him, including portable version of the T4 unit and cleared all my fault codes as part of the service. Not only that, but as he has a ZT himself, he really knows what he's talking about. What i found really great about Rob's service is that he actually talks you through what he's doing as he's doing it, so you learn a bit as well. (Recommended by forum member 'mgblue')

Cool

Ok just an update.

Car is in the caring hands of Rob from techknowservices in Staines upon Thames who has a good track record with MG rovers.

All pressures checked and came back spot on, no gasses found on tests, also chambers checked using a fiber optic camera and no contamination found, no contamination in the oil, but did find a small maount of oil in the coolant, they also found the main culprit for coolant loss was from the water pump UH!, also the contamination of oil in the coolant maybe emanating from a faulty oil cooler, so having a new oil cooler, full cam belt kit and water pump fitted.

Watch this space

Glad you took everyone's advice and found out what was actually wrong with the car. Hope it serves you well when you get it back.

Ok, got the car back on Saturday and all seems fine Rob did have a few issues with pipes, bolts etc but all seems well, going back to him this weekend so he can double check everything is still sound, seems quicker off the mark and noticed it idles at around 600rmp, before it was 1100rpm, Rob also said that on the computer both VIS motors were not working, so having these sorted by Stocktake.

Happy driving.
