About 2k over 20 years. So £100 a year on tackle...as I donate £40 a month via tax free schemes to dementia UK, Marie curie and macmillan andchave done for quite some time on top of giving the hospice that cared for my father an anonymous 1000 pound donation after their quite touching care in his final days....I don't think I have anything to be ashamed of.....

How about you....?

Yes, of course we are!!!
Because if that was YOUR or MY child starving for want of a couple of quid to buy food, I'm sure we wouldn't spend it on a NAUGHTY WORD-NAUGHTY WORD-NAUGHTY WORD-NAUGHTY WORD-NAUGHTY WORD-NAUGHTY WORD- car!
But it has always been so. Such is human nature. The selfish gene.

Edit: It wasn't THAT naughty a word . . .

Default My perspective:

We are all works in progress and we all do what's best for us at any given time.

If people wish to donate to any charity, that's cool!

Peter, do you feel this thread has been useful to you?

Bait? Tickets? Licences?

I'm not the one kicking a fuss up about where people donate their money, my conscience is clear with what I do with my hard earned pennies.

Soon I'll find repose

And then I'll hold you in my dreams

you seem to be totally missing the original point....

its not about personal preference or how much..

its about the amount of weight behind saving cute and fluffy as opposed to granny or granddad, little bruised billy and far worse...
if your lonely or have no kids etc then I totally agree a pet can be a marvellous thing, but constantly asking for money and support for needlessly bred animals (done for profit) that no one wants, or the spur of the moment pet, later abandoned, tells me that society is wrong on 2 fronts, the greed of the pet industry and the amount of weight we lean on that side as opposed to human suffering.

so anyone that is offended by my not feeling more the little balls of fluff as opposed to a small scared child, or a grownup so alone day after day, or scared out of their mind because the world no longer makes any sense to them should take a good long look in the mirror and imagine it's their child, or parent, or self in the coming years....

given the choice between kitten and kiddie... I know who gets my attention... every single time...

I suggest this thread calms down A LOT or it gets shut.

And for you my friend that is wonderful and long may she continue to do so for I know she will not be abandoned or miss treated.... but if it was a choice between the two ladies in your life then I am sure that the missus would not come a close second...

Pete, this thread is a calm, thought out exploration of peoples views of social care and consideration in society today.

I see absolutely no reason what so ever to jump in with both boots and words in bold...

Really? There is a distinct lack of civility running here between yourself and certain other posters, and I don't care for my phone beeping with the reported posts alert.

It stops now.
