Default Been approached by someone wanting to buy your car ?

Has anyone on here had this happen to them ? Parked outside the mother-in-law's in Bedfordshire on Saturday, as we were about to drive off, a neighbour walked over and quite brazenly said 'I want to buy that car'. I politely pointed out that it was not for sale - he then said 'it is probably worth about 2000 pounds'. I then pointed out that about 3-4,000 pounds was more like it (it is an 08 plate CDTi Classic with only 40,000 miles on the clock, one of the last registered), but he was insistent he wanted to buy it, and I have to give him first refusal when I come to sell it !

I suppose I should be flattered, but the car was not looking at its best after thrashing around East Anglia last week on filthy roads, and it is fairly 'poverty spec'.

I would be interested in any similar experiences forum members may have had.

Cheers

Pete

I've had several people who have said that they would love my car but probably couldn't afford it. I have told them that it is not for sale but have suggested that they join the forum and look around for a "good 'un" as they are not as expensive as they look!

I've had several offers for my 75. Quite weirdly, 3 of them have been while the car was up on ramps - once on the drive while I was changing the front brakes and twice in a garage while it was being MoT'd.
