Default Gremlins under bonnet....

Please can anyone shed any light on this? My usually reliable and unshakable diesel seems to be broken.
I started it today tonight and it had a slightly rough idle for a few seconds, then settled down. Under acceleration however it felt to be loosing power, and not revving smoothly. Upon stopping at a junction it stalled- but started in the button before displaying same symptoms minus the stall. I parked it in the supermarket and the rev needle was showing small fluctuations at idle. So I did what anyone would and went shopping.
When I started it again it displayed similar symptoms so I took it for a run to see if it might be temp related. At the end of the run up to motorway speeds the car seemed better, but the engine did almost stall again coming to a halt. 30 mins later I got in the car again to bring it home and it was fine. I'll check the plenum in the morning but has anyone any ideas... If it's a diesel injector fault it could be depressing!

start with basics, check the ECU for signs of having been for a swim

You could try unplugging the MAF to see if that helps

I'm not that good with distances, but I'm guessing Bigruss and his T4 would be the next port of call

Wonder if this could be as simple as a bad batch of fuel? Try filling up at another station and see if that helps?

Well, have checked the very basics- plenum chamber dry, oil and coolant present....
Will take it out and see if fault persists. Bad diesel could be an interesting theory, but the last tank was a full one from the warning light of BP (normal stuff) and it took a quarter of it without complaint.
Will put a splash of ultimate in and see what happens....

How odd! Following a splash of diesel, a prod at the ecu and a thrash the car is now cured... Maybe it was a fuel contamination problem or maybe there's a loose connection on the ecu?

Could be the car just fixed itself. It shall call it Christine. Now I just have to go out and see that strange old dude who sold me the car, and get then even with that Buddy Repperton..... :eek
