ZT CDTi auto or manuel
I'm looking to buy a ZT CDTi in either a manual or auto guise. I've had an auto before (a BMW E39) and was pleasantly surprised at how well it performed and didn't really miss changing gear (try driving in London with a manual!).
Question is, is the autobox any good performance and reliability-wise? Also how much of a difference is there between the MG Sports suspension and the standard MG suspension? Last question, am I right in thinking the standard CDTi is basically the same engine as the CDTi 135 with the exception of the ECU? |

if your getting the diesel for more mpg then getting an auto is defeating the object...yes its easier to drive...dare i say lazy even but it will cost you mpg as a result...if you don't care then its down to preference.
cdti 116 and 131 are the same bar the ecu map hth steve

Auto or manual
I know an auto consumes more fuel than a manual but it's hardly in the league of a 2.5 V6

Auto vs Manual
A quick look at how much clutch trouble the manuals have should make up your mind for you. OK the auto's do use a little more fuel but the driving experience is superb and there are very few instances of failures these days.
There were cases of failures on earlier cars (probably pre 2003 models) but I think these have either been repaired by now or will probably not now give trouble. Pays to change fluid at, or before, 60,000 miles
